How to Unlock the Nama J2 Juicer (When It Gets Stuck)

If you’ve been staring at a Nama J2 that won’t budge, you’re not alone. This comes up a lot, and the fix is almost always the same.
The J2 has a safety lock built in. The machine will not turn on unless the hopper and base are aligned and seated correctly. If anything is even slightly off, the lock stays engaged.

Here's what to do first:
Turn the machine off and unplug it. Give it 30 to 60 seconds. Then disassemble everything and start from scratch. This sounds annoying, but 9 times out of 10 it’s the fix.
Reassemble in this order:
- Auger into the bowl
- Strainer over the auger
- Hopper lid locked down
- Full top assembly seated onto the motor base
The base won’t click into place unless the entire top section is fully assembled first. A lot of people try to attach the hopper to the base and then add pieces on top. That does not work.

If it's still stuck:
Check for pulp or residue in the locking tabs. Even a small piece of leftover produce can block the mechanism from engaging. Rinse the parts and try again.
We’ve had this happen after a long juicing session when we forgot to fully clear the pulp chute. Once we rinsed and reassembled clean, it clicked right in.
Bottom line: The J2 is not broken. If it won’t lock, it’s an assembly issue almost every time. Take it apart, clean it, and put it back together in the right order.
